What is Hormone Replacement Therapy?

Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is the replacement and optimization of the body's essential hormones that naturally decline with age. Hormone imbalance can lead to several signs and symptoms including:

Men: low sex drive, increased body fat, loss of muscle mass, reduced mental focus, anxiety, depression, irritability, and associated comorbid health conditions such as hyperlipidemia and diabetes.

Women: fatigue, muscle/joint pain, difficulty sleeping, weight gain, dry skin, hair loss, decreased libido, poor sexual satisfaction or pain with intercourse, depression, anxiety, irritability, urinary issues, hot flashes, and night sweats. 

At Empire Aesthetics we offer several different types of hormone replacement therapy. Your provider will discuss which hormone replacement options you are eligible for as well as what options will be best for your individual needs. 

Benefits of Hormone Replacement Therapy

Hormone replacement therapy provides several benefits including symptom reduction as well as health longevity and promotion. Some potential benefits are listed below. Symptom improvement varies.

Men: Increase in sex drive, decrease in body fat and increase in lean muscle mass, improved mental focus, reduction in anxiety, irritability, and depression, decrease in cardiovascular risk factors, decreased risk of diabetes.

Women: Increased energy, improved lean muscle mass, reduction in hot flashes and night sweats, improved sleep, improved sexual satisfaction and increased libido/lubrication, reduction in anxiety, depression, and irritability, improved urinary continence, skin hydration and hair regrowth. 

Types of Hormone Replacement Therapy

Pellet Therapy: Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy with Biote pellets is Empire's most popular form of HRT. These hormones are all natural and mimic the hormones already found in the body. Pellets are approximately the size of a grain of rice and are inserted in a minor in-office procedure into the glute. The body then forms microvasculature around the pellet to pull a steady stream of the hormone throughout the body. Pellet therapy for females lasts approximately 3-4 months and for males approximately 5-6 months. We offer both testosterone and estradiol replacement through pellets.

Non-pellet HRT: Empire offers several non pellet options for HRT of estrogen, testosterone, and progesterone. Non pellet options include oral pills, topical cream/lotion, injectables, and intravaginal applicators. 

Thyroid Optimization: At Empire Aesthetics we offer a comprehensive evaluation of thyroid function to aid individuals in treating thyroid abnormalities as well as optimizing thyroid function to promote overall health and well being. Options for thyroid optimization include natural thyroid supplements, dietary changes, and lifestyle modifications.

Nutraceutical Supplements: Price Varies depending on supplement

*We do not accept insurance. However, if you have an HSA/FSA spending card through your insurance we are able to accept these forms of payment. 

Side effects/Risks of Hormone Replacement Therapy

As with any treatments and medications, there are risks and side effects associated with hormone replacement therapies. Our Nurse Practitioner provides in depth and comprehensive medical assessments on all patients exploring HRT options to ensure they are an appropriate candidate for our treatment options.
