BBL and Moxi are two separate treatments. Both BBL and Moxi are laser devices and patients can opt in to receive either treatment or a combination of both BBL and Moxi in the same session. Results are best when treatments are performed together.
BBL (BroadBand Light) laser treatment is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that uses intense pulsed light (IPL) to improve skin tone, texture, and appearance. How it Works:
- The BBL device emits a broad spectrum of light that penetrates the skin.
- This light targets and breaks down pigments that cause age spots, sun damage, and uneven skin tone.
- The treatment also stimulates collagen production, which improves skin elasticity and reduces fine lines and wrinkles.
Benefits:
- Reduces age spots, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation
- Improves skin texture and tone
- Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
- Treats acne and acne scars
- Stimulates collagen production
Who it's for: BBL laser treatment is suitable only for patients who have a Fitzpatrick Scale between I-III. BBL sees pigment, meaning this treatment is not safe for patients with a darker complexion. Patients need to be free of sun exposure for at least two weeks prior to treatment. Patients cannot spray tan, or self tan within two weeks of their treatment.
Contraindications: This treatment is contraindicated for patients who have a Fitzpatrick scale of IV or above. It is not suitable for patients who are pregnant, history of seizures, or patients taking photosensitive medications. Patients who have a history of skin cancer in the area being treated, should not perform this procedure. Patients must discontinue use of any abrasive exfoliators, acids, or vitamin A derivative products at least 7 days prior to treatment. Patients with an active spray tan, self tan, or UV exposure should not receive this treatment. Patients who have melasma should not receive BBL but are great candidates for Moxi, as Moxi can significantly improve melasma appearance.
Procedure:
- The treatment typically takes 15-30 minutes.
- The practitioner will apply a protective gel to the skin and then use the BBL device to deliver light pulses.
- You may feel a mild warmth or tingling sensation during the treatment.
Time between treatments: Treatments are usually spaced 4-5 weeks apart.
Aftercare:
- Any Brown undertones in the skin will become a coffee ground flakey brown as they shed off the next few days post treatment. You may experience some redness or swelling, which typically subsides within a few hours up to one day.
- We recommend patients purchase our Epicutis Aftercare Kit for best results and minimal downtime post treatment.
- It is recommended to avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen for several days after the treatment.
